This is my dress story with just enough details to get the idea without giving too much away.
So, last night Mom and I went to our appointment at David's Bridal and it was a success. At first I was nervous because it seemed like all our restrictions were really limiting us. For example...our budget, our time constraint, and our style preferences.
Sonya was the lady helping us and she grabbed about 6 dresses for me to get started with.
The first dress was so beautiful. It was very fancy and was marked down from $1400. So it was definitely beautiful. It was of course amazing to see on...which I think the first dress always as that wow factor. Though it was beautiful it wasn't exactly what I envisioned, so I was ready to see what was next.
Dress #2 was definitely more of what I had imagined. I was excited to see it on...but bummed out that it was a size too small so it was definitely going to have to be altered :-( However, we got it on me enough to get the affect and I was so thankful that it looked so good. I really liked it. It was what I had envisioned and it looked good and it has some really cool features/extras. We liked it but wanted to see what else there was.
Dress#3 wasn't awesome on the rack, but Sonya said it looked amazing on. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it on :-( It was the wrong size. Sonya went to grab a different size but they didn't have it. So she grabbed another dress.
Dress#4 I didn't like at all. It was more A-line and the design on it made me look WIDE...a big NO from me.
Dress #5 was almost identical to Dress #2 but was on sale and was a little less fancy. I was anxious to put it on and see what I thought. It was really pretty but I wasn't a fan of the longer train. But, we looked into a bustle. I liked it and felt I could settle with it, but I wanted to try on Dress#2 one more time to see if I could be really happy with Dress #5.
So, as I am putting on Dress #2 again, Sonya scans it to see the real price and guess what it was on Sale too! I was thrilled and relieved that it might really be an option. Remember that this is the dress that was too small. So, once I got it on I just loved it. I really wanted this dress. So we had the alterations lady come over to talk to us about what we might need and costs. I would need the front of the top taken in and the side/back of the top let out....$120 and I would need it hemmed....another $120...and then a bustle...$35. Holy crap an extra $275 not gonna work. I was crushed.
Sonya looked at me and said girl lets get rid of that bra. So we headed in the dressing room, lost the bra and by some miracle we got it zip and it was PERFECT!!!!! I was so excited. So that knocked off one of the $120 alterations and if I can find the right shoe no hem will be needed so a $35 bustle I can handle!
So dress found, the bell at David's Bridal was rung and it was great! I'm happy to mark that off my to do list...but I am more excited that I found a dress that I love, love, love and I can't wait to wear it!!!!!
